Scotland Qualify for Euro 2024

Norwegian Loss Seals Birth in Finals

Play-offs Averted Thanks to Spain Assist

Scotland have secured their place in the finals of Euro 2024 after Norway's failure to beat Spain in Oslo on Sunday night. Steve Clarke's team can now not be overtaken by either of the other teams in their group, ensuring their presence at next summer's tournament in Germany.

Despite a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Ukraine in their final home game of the qualifying campaign, Scotland's hopes were boosted when Norway, who were level on points with Clarke's side going into the match, could only draw 1-1 with group leaders Spain.

This result means that Scotland are guaranteed at least second place in the pool, with only the winners and runners-up from each group qualifying automatically for the finals. Scotland will now play their final qualifying match against Cyprus in Larnaca on Tuesday, looking to finish their campaign on a high note.

Qualification for Euro 2024 represents a major achievement for Scotland, who have not reached a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup in France. It will be the first time that Scotland have qualified for a European Championship since 1996, and only the fourth time overall.

Scotland will be one of 24 teams competing in the finals of Euro 2024, which will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14 next year. The draw for the finals will be held in Hamburg on December 5, 2023.
